MUST-LISTEN EPISODE -> PAUL ZAENTZ TALKS “AMADEUS”
To commemorate joining this new podcasting network, we’re beginning this new era with a bang - with an interview with Paul Zaentz, a movie producer with first-hand experience working on some of the greatest movies ever filmed.
One of Paul’s earliest jobs in movies was on “Amadeus” - not a bad start, eh?
Anyone who’s followed my Twitter feed closely knows that I am a massive devotee of the movie “Amadeus” - any time there’s a viral hashtag about great movies I’m always hyping it up:
But my love of “Amadeus” is not without its complexity. I do voice my displeasure with the (so-called) Director’s Cut on occasion:
So… I couldn’t help but interrogate Paul Zaentz, not only on his illustrious career in filmmaking, but also specifically about the contrast between the various cuts of “Amadeus” and my displeasure that the original theatrical cut isn’t currently available in the best home media formats.
His answers to these tough questions are met with total class and he illuminates the issues, bringing new awareness, and breaks a little bit of news about a potential restoration of “Amadeus”…
Please take a listen to the episode and share it around. It’s a great conversation between a movie fan and someone directly involved in some of the greatest films ever made.
